STAY FAR FROM THIS SCAMMER! I’m appalled by the deceitful practices I just experienced at Dollar rental who auto enrolled us in their insurance without our permission or notice! From August 14- 31 we rented a car from Dollar in Las Vegas Airport that we contracted online through a third party. That was definitely the last time we rent a car at Dollar. When we received the car we found paper, bottles etc in the car so not the best cleaning. Furthermore they, in our opinion, tricked us to buy “premium road side service” as they told us the car had no insurance. You get a car that needs service while you have it. Only excuse from Dollar was that the car was ok when we got it. We lost a whole day at Anhinga National Park on that account. The other was to drive the car to a workshop and wait there for the oil change. They could not provide a new car to us so we got two options, one to get another car in Miami which was approximately 4-5 hours travel. We were not allowed to drive on in the car. We called Dollar and after 30 minute wait we got someone on the phone. We rented a car in Miami International Airport and the car’s mileage was approximately 29.800. I have used dollar before with no major issues however this seems like a deceptive practice. The last communication from dollar was that there is no way for them to know who left it open and I again reminded them that I had rejected the service and would be unlikely to open the PlatePass to pay a toll of less than $1. I can only contact dollar through Facebook messenger and have asked multiple times for a call or a phone number. We received a charge for the full rental period (two weeks) at around 187 dollars. I said it to the rep at CLE and they said it should be fine. We hit our first toll after about 4 days and when we approached the barrier opened and we realised the PlatePass transponder was open. The car was smaller than expected although technically in the same class. Rented a mid size SUV in CLE from dollar in July/August 2023. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS or RECOMMEND ANYONE DO BUSINESS with Dollar Car Rental. NO CUSTOMER SHOULD BE TREATED in this fashion and be so alarmingly OVERCHARGED. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE after all my calls to CS, meeting with the SAC Manager, and providing all my documentation that this continues to occur. Dollar Car Rental once again showed I had rented the car with no return or credit on the credit card dispute. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General and issued a credit card dispute. You can only call CS in Jamaica who have repeatedly been incompetent and OVERCHARGED me even if I had kept the rental. BEWARE as a customer you are not able to speak with any local office. ![]() Once I received $557.00 invoice I called CS only to learn there was no record of my return or calls. CS took detailed notes stating the Manager would approve return to issue credit. Call CS four times in Jamaica to discuss the issues with the rental. Returned home within 72 hours only to receive an invoice for the FULL AMOUNT of $557.00 the rental I had returned. ![]() Returned rental met directly with Manager who apologized and stated she would issue me a FULL REFUND and no additional charges would be incurred for the 22 hours of my rental. Contacted CS next morning only to find that I had to return to SAC as there was no other location which was more than an hour away. I rented a car from SAC only to receive a smoked filled and not fully fueled rental. BEWARE! Customer is OVERCHARGED & DISREGARDED ![]()
